INDOOR PLANTS FOR BEGINNERS //
Choosing a house plant can be intimidating or confusing! We are here to help you determine which plant is right for you and your space.
FACTORS TO CONSIDER:
- Do you have a pet that you are concerned will chew on your plants? If so, we recommend a pet-safe option! Follow our 🐾 symbol.
- How often do you want to check-in on the plant? If you want a hands-off growing approach, we have the plants for you. Look for the 🌱 symbol.
- What kind of lighting does your space have?
KEY TIP: You should always pick where you want your plant and then choose the plant that is best for that space!
WHAT KIND OF LIGHT DOES MY SPACE HAVE?
Here are the key aspects when determining what kind of light you have:
How far is the spot from a window?
What direction does that window face?
What is blocking the light from the window (curtains, a bookshelf, etc.)?
Low Light

- Minimal natural light or artificial light only
- A north-facing window where your plant is 5’ away from it
- South, West or East facing windows that are blocked by a large tree or another house
Rule of thumb: if it’s too dark to read a book without turning the light on in the middle of a day, then it’s too dark for any plant.
Medium Light

- Indirect light that is filtered or partial
- East or West facing windows where plant is 5-10’ away
- South facing window where plant is 10’ + away
- North facing window where plant is 3-5’ away
Bright Light

- Long bright light or direct sunlight exposure
- South-facing window with plants 5-10’ away
- East or West window with plants 5-10’ away

What are the best plants for a kitchen or bathroom area?

These plants love indirect, medium-to-bright light conditions and humidity.
